What is Psychic Power?
Often enough we attribute psychic powers and abilities to psychics and occultists who connect with the spirit world and tap into our sub-conscious minds. Call it clairvoyance, extra-sensory perception or mental telepathy, these people have a special mental ability which translates into psychic energy. It isn’t that such people are endowed with a natural gift of extraordinary mental processes. In each one of us there exists an unknowing psychic power that comes unbidden without us even realizing it. You know those sudden gut feelings or moments of intuition? It’s an energy that’s constantly present and it’s there to be tapped into for anyone who wants to work with it. These psychic abilities can be developed through the sense of sight or clairvoyance, hearing or clairaudience or touch known as clairsentience. It’s fairly easy to do once you learn to train yourself to recognize these powers and bring them out by fine-tuning them. Various uses of exercises and activities abound to develop one’s psychic abilities. Here’s a look at few of them which can help strengthen your intuitive ability and bring out the psychic in you.
Sensing Through the Use of Objects
The best and most fun way to start practicing your psychic abilities is through working with objects belonging to people you know. That way the person can confirm any thoughts or feelings that come to you while holding the object in your hand. Write down whatever comes to mind instinctively and then compare your notes with the actual facts. Similarly you could have someone hide an object and by connecting yourself with that object’s energy, try and see if you can find its hiding place.
Practice Meditation
Meditation is key to developing your psychic abilities. In order to hone in on one’s sixth sense it is imperative to rid the mind of clutter. Take time out each day to give your senses up to meditation. Choose a quiet place where you can meditate undisturbed. Follow your breath and try to take notice of any sounds or smells surrounding you. Playing soft background music can greatly help to still the mind. Practice this for several weeks and you’ll soon find a sub-conscious awakening that can help increase levels of awareness and intuition.

Improve Concentration
Being able to concentrate is vital in the perception of someone else’s thoughts or moving objects with your mind. There are certain techniques to improve concentration abilities. One is by looking at a picture for a minute or so and then replicating that image in your mind, calling to mind every single detail you can possibly remember. The other technique is to encourage your power of imagination and daydreaming.
Practice the Art of Prediction
Being able to make predictions is one way of strengthening your psychic abilities. It takes a lot of practice to get it right. The basic idea is to hone in on your ability to predict by picking up on subtle nuances from the people around you. Try to read their body language or sense any tenseness which envelops them. You could also start by trying to predict the person on the other end of the line when the telephone rings or try to gauge who could be at the door when the bell rings. The more you allow yourself to focus and work with these different situations, the easier it becomes to allow your thoughts and predictions to follow through.
Train Yourself to Recognize Intuition
Instinct is attributed to a gut feeling that usually transcends all logic. Learning to recognize gut instinct frees up psychic tendencies within one’s self. Work on developing your intuition by paying attention to random thoughts and feelings. Jot down any thoughts that seem to spring from nowhere. Although completely random and unconnected in the beginning, once you train your mind to recognize these intuitions, you will soon begin to see certain patterns emerging that give shape to recognizable ideas.
Acknowledge and Accept Your Ability
There are many thoughts or premonitions which our sub-conscious minds envision which we tend to dismiss as having no meaning. The failure to understand these thoughts is usually a sign of us not wanting to acknowledge the psychic tendencies which exist within us. The moment we learn to accept this ability and focus on such thoughts, the better we become at understanding them and opening up our minds to our psychic senses.
