Numerology goes back thousands of years and there are different schools of thoughts in numerology. For example Chaldean theory, Kabbalah theory, Pythagoras theory etc. Among all the theories, Chaldean theory is supposed to be the most accurate and most difficult one to use. Since it is difficult, it is less popular. For this course we will be using the Chaldean theory. For people interested in reading more about the other theories, can do some research online. Since we will be focusing more on Chaldean theory, I would not like to confuse the readers much by explaining the other theories.
Chaldean theory was developed by the Chaldeans hundreds of years ago, who occupied the southern part of Babylonia. Chaldeans mastered the subjects’ mathematics and astronomy. As numerology is based on numbers and planets, the science is derived from mathematics and astronomy itself. This theory is based on extensive research by the Chaldeans and was later supported by the Vedic Astrology and the famous palmist and numerologist “Cheiro”.
Numerology is the science of numbers but the root remains the same as discussed in the first module. Every number is attached to a planet. For example Number 1 symbolizes the planet “Sun” and wherever we talk about Number 1, we need to analyze it thinking about the planet Sun. Numbers do not have any qualities of their own, like zodiac they also get their qualities and characteristics from the planets.
Numerology is just based on numbers 1-9. Every number has to be reduced to a single digit for analysis but the importance of the double digit cannot be neglected. Say for example we have a number 24. For analysis we reduce the 24 to 2+4=6. Here 6 is the main number, however 2 and 4 which makes 24 also have their importance. This is dealt differently and is included in the concept of “Compound Numbers” that will be discussed in Module 14. Till the module 13 we will be dealing with only numbers 1-9.
Numbers and Planets
The 9 numbers and the planets associated to them are as follows:
Number 1 = Sun
Number 2 = Moon
Number 3 = Jupiter
Number 4 = Uranus or Rahu or Dragon’s Head
Number 5 = Mercury
Number 6 = Venus
Number 7 = Neptune or Ketu or Dragon’s Tail
Number 8 = Saturn
Number 9 = Mars
I will keep on discussing the above in almost every module as it is important to remember the planet associated with each number.
Please note that there is no good or bad numbers in Numerology. Every number has its own characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. According to a few numerologists, Number 4 and 8 are troublesome. It is true that according to the research that these numbers are seen to be giving more problems than other numbers but this cannot be said with 100% accuracy. Roger Federer, the most popular tennis player is a Number 8. So at this stage please forget that Numbers 4 and 8 give trouble. It is just that these numbers need to be used with care as the results can be extreme: either too good or too bad.
Uses of Numerology
The use of Numerology is wide which makes it easily accepted by the people and due to this the subject is gaining popularity day by day. The numerologists in Western countries do not follow the Chaldean Theory due to which its use is still limited there. But the subject is gaining popularity which is evident with the increasing number of hits on Google each day. The most number of hits Google gets for Numerology is from India, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, UAE, South Africa, United Kingdom and U.S.A. In these countries, Numerology is getting recognition.
Numerology can be used for the following purposes:
Match Making: Numerology can help in analyzing the relationship of 2 numbers. Different numbers have different characteristics depending on their ruling planet. All the numbers have their strengths and weaknesses which help in analyzing the relationship between them. If the numbers of the couple are friendly, they would share a healthy relation and vice versa. More about this will be discussed in the other modules.
Guidance in Career: Depending upon their strengths and weaknesses, numerology can guide people in choosing their career. It is a fact that every human being is different and has different qualities. Someone with excellent communication skills should get into a sales job rather than in a job which involves more of thinking because his/her strength can be utilized better in a sales job. Numerology can definitely help you in choosing your right career.
Removing negativity from life: In numerology, name number is very important. A good name number gives permanent success, at the same time if the name number is compatible with the date of birth; the person is seen to be lucky as well. So a good name number compatible to the date of birth can help remove negativity from life.
Business Numerology: Numerology can help companies by helping them fix a good name number and a lucky color of the logo. I have also helped companies in hiring employees. For example, Number 1, 2 and 7 people are seen to be more creative than the other numbers, so a work which involves creativity is suited more to Number 1, 2 and 7 people.
Car Numbers: Certain people are accident prone, a good car number and car color cannot guarantee you with ‘no’ accidents but it can definitely help in avoiding it.
Stock Numerology: Depending upon the date of birth, people can be advised on the sector they should invest in.
Numerology of Geographical Areas: Numerology of cities, area within cities and countries can also be done. Certain cities might be lucky for some while not so much for others. Also while investing in real estate; the numerology of the particular area can also be done so that in the long term the investment gives better profits.
Numerology of Flat Numbers and Street Address: Good flat numbers and street addresses keep the environment of the flat peaceful.
Lucky Numbers, dates and colors: Different people have different lucky numbers, dates and colors. Using these for all the important events can make people lucky.
Limitations of Numerology
Like every other science numerology also has its limitations. As discussed in the first module, horoscope still remains as the most accurate branch of astrology. Numerology is good with the above mentioned uses but when it comes to predictions, numerology can only guide us and it lacks accuracy. From Numerology, we can predict the lucky and important years of an individual but we cannot be sure about the events that would take place during this time. Horoscopes can provide us with a more accurate answer to this. Whether an individual is a celebrity or not does not depend upon the date of birth and can only be determined from the horoscope of the person. Numbers only determine the delays and obstacles which a person will have to face during the course of his or her life. Also, numerology is used for other purposes as listed earlier in this module.
Numerology has the following limitations:
Lack of accuracy while predicting the future
Numerology cannot predict to what extent will a person be successful in life
It is not possible to foretell the life span of a person through Numerology
Numerology cannot predict the timing of the occurrence of specific events in future but definitely it helps in indicating a pattern.
Conclusion
To sum up the above, examples of a few questions that Numerology can answer are as follows:
Why does Indian Cricket Team captain Dhoni wears #7 jersey?
What was wrong with the name Lehman Brothers that the company went bankrupt?
Why is Paris known as the city of love?
What was the reason Michael Jackson went through so many trials?
Why are Gujarat, Sri Lanka, Srinagar, Kashmir, and Mumbai always disturbed due to natural disasters or terrorist attacks?
What is so good about the numbers of Warren Buffet?
Why is Apple the market leader when it comes to innovation in technology?
