Healing is something that is not one dimensional. There are many ways to bring about healing in a person. The path to healing for each individual may not always be the same but the end result always is. Healing is all around us. It touches every part of our being, restoring our health and keeping us whole and of sound mind. While there are many different ways to be healed, here’s a look at the few well known types of healing which most people look for, find and derive a sense of wellness from.
Types of Healing

Medicinal Healing
This type of healing has individuals seeking the help of medical practitioners or medical treatments to get better. It is healing derived from treatments that are considered to be purely medical in nature. Persons suffering from physical or psychological conditions receive healing through these treatments with the sole intention of getting better.
Holistic Healing
Holistic healing is healing which brings about an overall feeling of wellness and wholeness in a person by addressing the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of an individual. It is an ongoing journey of self discovery through better living and adopting a healthier approach to life.
Self Healing

Self healing is more spontaneous in nature where an individual does whatever it takes to facilitate the healing process with or without help. The means of bringing about healing such as treatment programs, sacred objects, meditation, etc is not as important as the desire to be healed. The healing process is determined by the individual itself.
Spiritual Healing
It is where an individual seeks healing on a spiritual level. Spiritual healing helps one connect with their god or religious beliefs to bring about a sacred cleansing from within. Through prayer and religious principles one enters into this healing process, seeking a feeling of peace and calm within themselves from the various turmoils of life.
Chakra Healing

A type of healing which targets the entire body through the manifestation of one’s inner beliefs is the Chakra Healing. There are many chakra centres within the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual realm of one’s being and it is through chakra meditation that one can attain deep healing and balance. Of the many chakra centres here’s a look at seven of the main chakras whose colors correspond to that of the rainbow and they each relate to different areas of one’s life.
Root Chakra
Red in colour, it is the first chakra situated at the base of the spine. It is connected to issues with one’s family of origin or one’s “roots”, hence the name Root Chakra. Disagreements with family members which arise due to lack of grounding can be resolved by healing of this first chakra.
Sacral Chakra
Orange in colour, it is the second chakra located just below the navel. This chakra which is connected to the womb is linked to a person’s creativity and sexuality. Healing through the sacral chakra comes through a creative or sexual outlet which is in alignment with one’s genuine self.
Solar Plexus
Yellow in colour, it is the third chakra which travels from just below the heart down to the navel. The Solar Plexus which is connected to a person’s self-esteem and ego invokes a relationship with the self by helping to uncover one’s real self through the reassessment of personal choices.
Heart Chakra
It is the fourth chakra which is green in colour and lies at the centre of the chest. It is directly linked to emotions. Healing through this chakra requires willingness on one’s part to experience emotional dilemmas brought about by love, joy, loss and pain.
Throat Chakra
Blue in colour and lying at the base of the throat, this is the fifth chakra. It is linked to genuine expression of truth, acceptance of responsibility, decision-making and personal authority. This chakra is strengthened by standing up for one’s own personal beliefs as well as showing support for other people’s ideologies.
Brow Chakra
Also known as the Third Eye, it is the sixth chakra which lies at the centre of the forehead and resonates with the colour indigo. It is related to inner vision, discernment, divine understanding, wisdom and intelligence. Exercising patience in thoughts and observations is key to this chakra healing.
Crown Chakra
The seventh chakra which appears with the colour of violet and pure white light lies at the very top of the head. The Crown Chakra is connected to the divine in all its forms. Communicating with one’s god or spiritual self is how healing can be attained through this chakra.
