Location

South or south-west directions are the most appropriate location for a master bedroom. This should be the biggest room in the house and the head of the family must reside in this room. Ideally, this bedroom should be square or rectangular in shape. In a multi-storeyed house, the master bedroom should always be situated on the south-west corner of the top floor. South west corner of the master bed room should always be occupied and never left vacant.

West directions are perfect for the children’s bedroom while the North west end is suitable for the guest bedroom. There should never be a bedroom in the centre of the house. Master bedroom should be used by married couples only. Bedroom should never be built in the north-east direction as this is the area of the deities. The most suitable directionsfor having an attached bathroom or changing room are the west and north. The door of the bathroom must never be kept open. Having a mezzanine floor in the bedroom only if it is located in the south or west wall of the room.

Doors and Windows

Doors of the master bedroom can be situated in east, west or north directions but never in the south side. Doors in the room should open fully, i.e. at least at 90 degrees to ensure inflow of positivity and opportunity into the native’s life. The larger window of the room should always be either in the North or east direction while the smaller windows should be located in the west direction. The door of the bedroom should always be single shutter and should never open witha noise.

Walls and interiors

Bed and direction for sleeping

The bed must always be placed towards the south or west wall in the master bedroom. It should never be aligned to any corner. The bed should never face the bathroom.Head while sleeping should always be in the South direction. It ensures soundless peaceful sleep and improves overall health. Sleeping with the head in the east ensures increase in knowledge and wisdom for the individual. However, one should never sleep with their head in the north or west as it brings nightmares and ill health, respectively. Sleeping with legs towards the east brings fame and name, towards the west brings mental peace and spiritualism and towards the north brings prosperity. However, one should never sleep with legs towards the south direction as it is considered highly inauspicious. It is believed to bring nightmares, ill health, mental stress and even early death.

Others

Keeping a safe in the bedroom should strictly be avoided. However, if unavoidable then the safe should be kept at a place away from the east and west directions and the north east, north-west, south-east and south- west corners. If the safe is placed towards the south wall of the room and opens towards the north end, then it is considered highly auspicious.

Heavy and weighty wardrobes, almirahs and shelves are best placed in the south west corner of the master bedroom. The dressing table, whether with or without a mirror, must be placed at the north or east wall of the bedroom. Mirrors should never be placed on the wall opposite to the foot of the bed as mirrors in such a direction cause stress and sickness to the natives living in the room.

It is advisable to never put images of idols of gods in the bedroom as it is considered disrespectful to the deity. Computer, TV, laptops, irons and other electrical and heating appliances should never be kept in the bedroom. However, in unavoidable circumstances, these appliances should be kept and used in the south-east side of the bedroom.
