According to Western Astrology, there are 12 zodiac signs. There is some rumor of a 13th zodiac but we will ignore it as the Vedic Astrology does not support that concept. The 12 zodiac with their ruling planet in the order are:

Aries Mars
Taurus Venus
Gemini Mercury
Cancer Moon
Leo Sun
Virgo Mercury
Libra Venus
Scorpio Mars
Sagittarius Jupiter
Capricorn Saturn
Aquarius Saturn with some effects of Rahu
Pisces Jupiter

You must have read the qualities of the above zodiac in some magazines, newspapers etc. But please note that zodiac are just constellations and not powerful enough to have their own characteristics and influence human beings on earth. Every zodiac has a ruling planet and the characteristics of the zodiac are of their ruling planets. Now, the question is that the ruling planet of 2 zodiacs can be same, so will they have same qualities. The answer is yes and no. They will have similar qualities but not the same qualities. Since our area of focus is not zodiac so I will not get into too much depth here. However, after reading Modules 16 and 17 you can read about the individual zodiac in detail to get in depth knowledge of the zodiac as well.

According to the Western Astrology, the zodiac date divisions are as follows:

Aries 21st March – 19th April
Taurus 20th April – 20th May
Gemini 21st May – 20th June
Cancer 21st June - 22nd July
Leo 23rd July – 22nd August
Virgo 23rd August – 22nd September
Libra 23rd September – 22nd October
Scorpio 23rd October – 21st November
Sagittarius 22nd November – 21st December
Capricorn 22nd December – 19th January
Aquarius 20th January – 18th February
Pisces 19th February – 20th March

Zodiac sign is also known as the sun sign. According to Vedic Astrology, sun sign is the zodiac sign where Sun is placed in your horoscope. The dates above contradict with the dates of Vedic Astrology. Also, with experience and getting into technical details I have found the Vedic Astrology to be correct. According to the Vedic Astrology, the dates for the Zodiac division are as follows:

Aries 15th April – 14th May
Taurus 15th May – 14th June
Gemini 15th June – 14th July
Cancer 15th July – 14th August
Leo 15th August – 14th September
Virgo 15th September – 14th October
Libra 15th October – 14th November
Scorpio 15th November – 14th December
Sagittarius 15th December – 14th January
Capricorn 15th January – 14th February
Aquarius 15th February – 14th March
Pisces 15th March – 14th April

However, people born between 14thto 16th of any month may find it otherwise as Sun changes its house between these dates. So the best way to find the sun sign of someone born from 14th – 16th will be to see the horoscope. This can be done by input of date, time and place of birth of the individual in any online generated horoscope.
Now, the most common argument will be, for example

“I am an Aries as I have Aries qualities and I can’t be a Piscean”

Or

“I can’t be a Leo; I do not have those characteristics” etc.

The fact is, for years you have been reading about Aries or Piscean (or whatever) and now you have started believing that you have those qualities and you cannot believe that you are a Piscean. But the question arises; can there be only 12 types of people in this world? The answer is No.

To judge an individual’s characteristics we need to consider the following as I had explained earlier as well:

Psychic Number

Moon Sign - Moon sign is the sign where the Moon is positioned in your horoscope.

Sun Sign – Sun Sign or Zodiac is the sign where the Sun is positioned in your horoscope.

So, the characteristics of an individual are dependent on the Psychic Number, Moon Sign and the Sun Sign. However, the root of all the 3 is planets. Zodiac itself does not have its qualities as explained earlier; the qualities are given by the ruling planets. The ruling planets for the Psychic Numbers are as follows:

1 – Sun
2 – Moon
3 – Jupiter
4 – Rahu
5 – Mercury
6 – Venus
7 – Ketu
8 – Saturn
9 – Mars

I am repeating the above so that you are able to recap about the numbers and planets.
So, for example you have a Psychic Number of 3, with Moon sign as Gemini and Sun sign as Taurus. So you will have the qualities of the following planets.
Psychic Number 3 = Jupiter
Gemini Moon Sign = Mercury (Ruling planet, as explained earlier)
Taurus Sun Sign = Venus (Ruling planet of Taurus)

I was born on 24th August, so according to the old Zodiac I should be a Virgo with ruling planet Mercury. However, my psychic is 6 ruled by Venus, Moon sign is Taurus ruled by Venus and Sun Sign as Leo ruled by Sun. So I have never felt any qualities of Virgo in myself. You will always have the qualities of the planet ruling your psychic number irrespective of your Moon sign or Sun sign. The Moon Sign or the Sun Sign will only change your attitude. The concept of Moon Sign will not be discussed in this course as it does not fall within Numerology. I will advise you not to get into Moon Sign in detail, and it is not possible to find the Moon sign of a person from the date of birth. However, knowledge of the same is an added advantage. For the scope of numerology, we will be using more of psychic number and zodiac. Using the destiny number is an added advantage but that will confuse you further. To understand the characteristics and behavior of an individual, just the knowledge of zodiac and psychic number works wonders.
